How the yes or no reading works
Every card in the deck leans one way. Bright, forward-moving cards such as The Sun or the Ace of Cups say yes. Cards of loss, conflict or endings, such as the Three of Swords, say no. Cards about waiting, choices or uncertainty, such as the Two of Swords, say maybe: the outcome is still open.
This reading uses a full virtual 78-card Rider-Waite-Smith deck. Around one card in three is drawn reversed. A reversed yes card softens to not yet, while a reversed maybe or no card leans towards no.
Tips for asking a good yes or no question
- Ask about one thing at a time. “Should I apply for this job?” works better than “Will my work and love life improve?”
- Focus on what is in your hands. “Is this a good time for me to ask for a raise?” gives a more useful answer than “Will my boss change?”
- Ask once. Drawing again and again until you get the answer you want tells you more about your hopes than about the situation.

Is a yes or no tarot reading accurate?
A yes or no reading is a quick way to check the energy around a question, not a guarantee. It works best as a prompt for reflection. Read the full card meaning, notice how you feel about the answer and use your own judgement before making a decision.
What does a reversed card mean in a yes or no reading?
In this reading, a reversed yes card becomes “not yet”: the answer is positive but delayed or blocked. Reversed maybe and no cards lean towards no. Some readers ignore reversals completely for yes or no questions, which is also a valid approach.
Can I ask the same question twice?
You can, but it rarely helps. If the first answer surprised you, it is usually more useful to read that card’s full meaning, or to try a three-card reading for more detail, than to keep drawing until you get the answer you want.
